About Latinas

Latinas@systers.org formed from a meeting of "Latinas in Engineering" BOF at the 2006 Grace Hopper Celebration for Women in Computing conference. We invite Latinas in engineering, computing and related sciences to join this list. This list adheres to Systers' rules. Please look at our frequently asked questions for details.

Using Latinas
The mailing list is organized around conversations. To begin a new conversation, send email to Latinas+new@athena.systers.org. Alternately, if you would like to specify a name for your new conversation, send your message to Latinas+new+name@athena.systers.org, replacing name with the name you would like (e.g., Latinas+new+greetings@athena.systers.org).

To continue an existing conversation, simply use your mailer's "reply-all" command.

You can subscribe to the list in the next section of this page, or if you are already a subscriber, use the bottom section to change options or unsubscribe.

Subscribing to Latinas

Subscribe to Latinas by filling out the following form. You will be sent email requesting confirmation, to prevent others from gratuitously subscribing you. Once confirmation is received, your request will be held for approval by the list moderator. You will be notified of the moderator's decision by email. This is also a hidden list, which means that the list of members is available only to the list administrator.

    This list requires subscribers to provide a short essay on their qualifications to join this list. To join the list, you must tell us:1) your involvement in technical computing -- one or two sentences is enough, 2) that you identify as Latina, and 3) that you agree to follow the rules in the frequently asked questions. Thank you!
    You may enter a privacy password below. This provides only mild security, but should prevent others from messing with your subscription. Do not use a valuable password as it will occasionally be emailed back to you in cleartext.

    If you choose not to enter a password, one will be automatically generated for you, and it will be sent to you once you've confirmed your subscription. You can always request a mail-back of your password when you edit your personal options. Once a month, your password will be emailed to you as a reminder.
